Mychael Knight
1978 — 2017 · Memphis-born American fashion designer; principal Black-American Project Runway-era couturier of the early twenty-first century; founder of the Mychael Knight Collection at Atlanta in 2006
Mychael Knight was born on the twenty-second of December 1978 at Memphis, Tennessee, the son of a Memphis Black family of the principal post-civil-rights Memphis Black middle-class community. He was raised in the principal Memphis Black community of the late 1980s and early 1990s.
He completed the bachelor's degree in fashion design at Atlanta International University at Atlanta in 2000 — and worked across the principal early-2000s Atlanta period as a junior designer at the principal Atlanta sportswear company Russell Athletic.
He was hired in 2003 at the principal Atlanta sportswear company Patagonia as a senior designer — and held the principal Patagonia senior designer position from 2003 to 2006.
He was cast in 2006 on the principal Project Runway third-season competition broadcast on the Bravo Network — and finished as the principal third-season finalist runner-up at the principal Olympus Fashion Week show of February 2007 at New York. He was the principal Project Runway fan-favourite of the principal Project Runway third-season period.
He founded the principal Mychael Knight Collection at Atlanta in 2006 — at the principal post-Project-Runway commercial expansion period — and operated the principal Mychael Knight Collection at Atlanta from 2006 to 2017.
He was the principal Black-American designer of the early-twenty-first-century Project-Runway-era American fashion-television-and-mass-market period to launch the principal post-Project-Runway commercial fashion house.
His principal Mychael Knight Collection commercial expansions included the principal MajK menswear sportswear line of 2008, the principal Kourrosé fragrance line of 2010, and the principal MajK Underwear menswear underwear line of 2011.

He died at Atlanta on the seventeenth of October 2017 of complications of intestinal ischemia, at thirty-eight.
