Ramesses II (c. 1303–1213 BCE) endures among the great of Africa. Pharaoh remembered for monumental building and a long, prosperous reign. Across the ancient age, this life and its works passed into the shared inheritance of humankind — kept here so the memory is never lost. Honored among the Great Ones of every civilization. Africa is the cradle of humankind; in the deepest sense, these are everyone’s ancestors — and so this name is kept, from the cradle of humanity to all its children.
